The Supreme Court of India is currently hearing multiple petitions regarding the cancellation of NEET-UG 2024 due to a confirmed paper leak in Patna and other irregularities. The controversy intensified when it was revealed that some candidates received incorrect question papers and torn OMR sheets, prompting the National Testing Agency (NTA) to award grace marks to affected students. This decision has been challenged in court as illegal.

Several petitions have been filed demanding a re-exam for all NEET-UG candidates, citing concerns over the integrity of the exam. Despite this, the Supreme Court has so far refused to impose a stay on the NEET-UG 2024 counselling process, which began on July 6, 2024​.

The Supreme Court has issued notices to the NTA and is seeking responses to allegations of paper leaks and other irregularities. A hearing scheduled for July 8, 2024, is expected to be crucial for determining the future course of action​.
